Conductivity Scanning

A whole new dimension to soil knowledge.

Soil Conductivity Scanning

Features

  • Increase knowledge of both top and sub soil
  • One-off cost - soil types will remain relatively constant
  • Essential for variable rate seed plans
  • Target sample nutrient status per soil type
  • Fully digital map and ‘zone’ production

The system we use for conductivity scanning is a non-invasive sensor that is pulled behind the sampling buggy. It is very lightweight and because it doesn't touch the soil it can be used in a wide range of conditions, even the growing crop.

Due to this being a one-off service we want to capture as much data as possible from the field. To do this we:

  • Capture data at half the tramline width (12m in a 24m system)
  • Aim to never run on the tramlines for the best ‘clean’ data
  • Capture 8 points per second
  • Use autosteer to keep parallel
