Weather and water monitoring systems

Having access to a source of local weather data is an essential requirement of the modern agricultural business. Many leading businesses have chosen to use Adcon stationsppwstation.jpg supplied by Plantsystems.

We have supplied and operated Adcon weather stations in the UK and Ireland since 1996, when we purchased our own first network. We have become the No.1 supplier of weather stations to agriculture in the UK and Ireland meeting client's requirements for easy access to real-time local weather in a user-friendly format.

All devices deliver real time data to our own data servers or to our customer's premises every 15 minutes. In intensive areas networked VHF radio telemetry is used to link all devices. For remote locations stand-alone GSM/GPRS telemetry units are available.

Data is used primarily for disease modelling and prediction but also for irrigation scheduling as daily ET0 values are automatically generated by the system software. Contractors also use the wind data to gauge suitable spraying conditions. Crop maturity predictions can be made and the development of pests can be tracked. Weather data is also needed to comply with the crop assurance protocols through recording conditions at spraying. The weather data is also used to complete the crop records for growers subscribing to Plantsystems' CropTrak Records Service.
