PLANT-Plus
PLANT-Plus is a field specific DSS which uses local weather data, together with a local weather forecast combined with crop information to improve crop protection and provide full justification of agrochemical use.The system uses detailed pest and disease models combined with crop information and generates a field specific risk assessment which leads to a decision. Regular user input is required to maintain the crop information records.
The models utilise:-
field location and characteristics
crop growth and development
variety susceptibility
local infection sources
fungicide wear off and wash off
known biology and activity of organism
The risk assessment is generated by combining all of the above with the local weather conditions from a representative weather station and the 5-day local weather forecast. This allows the system to be proactive as well as reactive to infection conditions and a rational approach can be taken in the selection and application of protective and curative fungicides.
The information is then processed to generate a PLANT-Plus advice graph and table for the current disease pressure and the risk for the next five days. The pressure is based on a threshold scale.
All local users of PLANT-Plus have the option of logging into their data using PLANT-Plus Online from anywhere in the world.
