Decision support systems

DSSs are computer based modules which provide an aid to timing of crop protection materials such as insecticides and fungicides. They generate risk assessments and information upon which a manager or grower can act. When implemented with care they can improve crop protection and minimise the input and cost of pesticides. They are often described as justification tools as each input is associated with a specific risk event.

Dacom PLANT-Plus This system requires regular user input to update the crop information.

ForecastXtra is a DSS which provides a local risk assessment but requires no user input

Both systems require access to a reliable source of local weather data. Weather stations, a weather forecast and weather data can be provided for anywhere in the UK and Ireland.

Plantsystems also supply weather data for MORPH which has been developed by Warwick HRI
